Brower, son of John A. and Minnie Brower, was born near Fairmont, Neb., September 2, 1896. He departed this life at the Fillmore county hospital in Geneva Thursday, December 30, 1965, having attained the age of 69 years, 3 months and 28 days. The deceased, a native of the Geneva community, was a member of a pioneer Fillmore county family. He grew to manhood and attended school at Fairmont. He farmed hear Geneva before making Geneva his home. He was engaged in the produce business in recent years. Tom was a member of the Congregational church, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and was a member of the Geneva Fire Department for more than 30 years. Tom was united in marriage to Anna F. Kirst at Albion, Neb., December 11, 1918. Born to this union were six children, all of whom survive, along with his wife, Anna. They are two sons, Bernard B. of Oakland, Neb., and Billy B. of Geneva; and four daughters, Doris Rocole and Frances Chapman of Geneva, Evelyn Dunwoody of Glen Ridge, N. J., and Carol Schafer of Hastings; two daughters-in-law, Lois Brower of Oakland and Dona Brower of Geneva; four sons-in-law, Warren Rocole and Wayne Chapman of Geneva, Robert Dunwoody of Glen Ridge, N. J., and Leon Schafer of Hastings and 21 grandchildren, also four brothers, Russell of Boise, Idaho, Harry of Pine Bluffs, Wyo., Frank of Geneva and Howard of Fairmont; six sisters, Mrs. Effie Lovejoy of Minden, Mrs. Bonnie Berger of Denver, Col., Mrs. Florence Chesnut of Three Oaks, Mich., Mrs. Bessie Miller, Mrs. Edna Garrett and Mrs. Mildred McDonald of Geneva, and a host of other relatives and friends. His parents, a brother, Henry, and a sister Bertha, and a brother and sister who died in infancy, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Sunday, January 2, at 2 p. m. at the Kritner-Farmer funeral home in Geneva, with Rev. Fred Gardner, pastor of the Union Church of Clay Center, officiating. Mrs. Alvin Rizer sang, “Ivory Palaces” and “Good Night and Good Morning.” Mrs. Willard Foster was accompanist. Pallbearers were Robert Hofferber, Marvin Saum, James Willy, Harry Helton, Francis McPeck and Ben D. Fussell. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal January 13th,1966 page 9.
