He married Susanna Washburn who was born in 1772 in Pennsylvania to parents Nathaniel Washburn (b. 1739) and Christina Schever (b. 1741) and sister to Anna Barbara, Marcia, Ebenezer, Joseph, Patience, John, Parmenas, and James. Zachariah served as a Private in Ford's Regiment of Militia, Territory South of the Ohio, commanded by William Miles, for the month of May, 1794. Zachariah and Susanna married in about 1794 according to the birth of their first child. They bought 50 acres of land in Brooke County, Virginia and they sold that land in 1806 to move to Jefferson County, Ohio. Zachariah was named on the first grand jury in Harrison County, Ohio (which was created from Jefferson County) in 1811. Zachariah served in the War of 1812 as a Lieutenant in Bevier's Battalion, New York Militia. Zachariah and Susanna had 12 children at the time of his service, and would eventually have 2 more. Tabor Cemetery in Palermo, Ohio. Susanna died in 1849 and is buried at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Palermo, Ohio Find A Grave contributor 50895521 provided the following: Zachariah and Susanna bought 50 acres of land in Brooke County, Virginia, sometime before 1806. Brooke County, West Virginia was created in 1797 some records may be in Ohio County, the parent county of Brooke County. It is believed that three children were born in Virginia in 1796, 1797 and 1800. In !806 they sold this land and removed west across the Ohio River into Jefferson County, Ohio. Zachariah and Susanna settled at some point in the present day county of Carroll in Ohio and from here he left his will. Son Zebedee's death is recorded in Marion County, Ohio Death Records, Book 1, Page 124. He died Bowling Green Township and his parents are listed as Zachariah Baker and Susanna Washburn. Burial Mt. Tabor Cemetery. His will was probated 21 Mar 1842, Carroll County, Ohio, Record A, Page 432.
