Mrs. Folds worked for Blue Cross-Blue Shield for 24 years before she retired on July 26 this year. She was born July 14, 1935 in Topeka, the daughter of John and Rose Berwert Gartner. She was a lifelong Topeka resident. Mrs. Folds was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and the altar society and the Daughters of Isabella, both at the church. She also was a member of Women of the Moose. She married John H. Folds Sr. on Sept. 8, 1956 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Sandra K. Flower, Topeka; two sons, John H. Folds Jr. and Brian A. Folds, both of Topeka; two sisters, Marie Burghart and Sophia Scheffelbein, both of Topeka; two grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. Mrs. Folds was preceded in death by a grand-daughter, Jennifer Ann Flower, Sept. 11, 1980 Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Folds will lie in state after 2 p.m. today at the Davidson Funeral Home where rosaries will be recited at 6 p.m. and the parish at 6:15 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 227 S.W. Folds, Sr., age 89, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2021 in Topeka at Midland Hospice Care. John was born February 3, 1932 in Morgan, Georgia the son of George and Carrie (Hutchison) Folds. John served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Korea and Vietnam. He later served with the Kansas Air Guard. He married Anna "Annie" Eve Gartner September 8, 1956. She preceded him in death October 23, 1996. John worked as a machinist for the Atchison & Santa Fe Railroad in Topeka for over 30 years. He was a member of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers, Local #378. John enjoyed fishing and spending time at the Shawnee County State Fishing Lake, amongst other lakes. John was preceded in death by a son, John Folds, Jr. on December 11, 2017; a granddaughter, Jennifer Ann Flower; a grandson, Matthew John Flower; two brothers, James and George Folds; and a sister, Ann Duncan. He is survived by a daughter, Sandra Kay (Earl) Flower of Ozawkie and a son, Brian (Gena) Folds of Valley Falls, KS; a brother, Clyde (Lela) Folds of Social Circle, Georgia; a sister, Betty Reeves of Greenville, SC; and one grandson, Mitchell (Megan) Flower. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the church, with visitation from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph's Catholic Church and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home. **************************************************************
