Born in Laurens County on May 31, 1915, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Rosetta Brady Kennedy and the widow of Charles Benjamin Compton. She was a member of Cedar Shoals Baptist Church, and was a retired employee of Inman Mills, Riverdale plant. Mrs. Compton is survived by two daughters, Margie Bennett of Spartanburg and Martha Ward of Fountain Inn; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
