Dorothy Elizabeth Branson was born Oct. 3, 1908, to George Austin and Golden Bess (Knights) Branson in Hindsboro, Ill. The family lived in Canada until moving to Aberdeen in 1918. She graduated from Aberdeen Central High and then attended Northern Normal & Industrial College. She married William Downs on Oct. 16, 1932, in Aberdeen. They continued to make Aberdeen their home where Dorothy was employed with Production Credit for many years and then three years with A.S.C. office before retiring. Dorothy has resided at Angelhaus Regional Basic Care Center for the past several years. Dorothy helped start the Garden And Bird Club of Aberdeen. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1986; one brother, Don; and one sister, Helen. Surviving is one brother, Charles Branson of Aberdeen; and many nieces and nephews.
