Smith received word yesterday of the death of his brother Dr. F. R. Smith which occurred in El Centro, California, Sunday evening after an illness of some time. Dr. Smith was a former resident of this city and will be remembered by a large number of the older residents. He studied medicine under Dr. Moore (sic. Dr. R. J. Mohr) here and afterward practiced his profession in Pleasant Plain and in this city. He was 61 years of age. Dr. Smith leaves a wife and one son who resides in Denver, Colorado, and the following brothers and sisters - Misses Ada and Lettie Smith and Otto Smith of this city, Mrs. Cora Ellison (sic. Ellyson) of Pleasant Plain, Mrs. Maggie Paramore of Bloomfield, Otis Smith of Nevada, Samuel Smith and Mrs. Cora Jones of Idaho. --------------- Fairfield Ledger Wednesday July 16, 1884 Pg. 3 Col. 5 "....Dr. F.R. Smith, of Pleasant Plain, a former resident of this city, and a gentleman well known and highly esteemed here, was married to Miss Minnie Laird, of Wayne, Henry county, near that place on Wednesday last. He and his bride are now in their new home at Pleasant Plain. Many friends here tender their congratulations." ---------------
