Shepherd died suddenly in hospital in Cleveland Tuesday noon and his remains were brought home to Harlem that night for interment. Some weeks ago he had an operation performed in Cleveland, and although he had not been discharged from the hospital, he came home and did some heavy work. Shepherd died suddenly in hospital in Cleveland Tuesday noon and his remains were brought home to Harlem that night for interment. Some weeks ago he had an operation performed in Cleveland, and although he had not been discharged from the hospital, he came home and did some heavy work. A second attack was imminent and he was returned to the hospital for another operation, which resulted in his death. He was a stout, able bodied man, but the strain proved too much for a sick man to endure. Remains were interred at Harlem Thanksgiving Day. He was a son of the late Isaiah Shepherd, was born in Lee Township and aged about 43 years. He was married to Melissa, daughter of Abner Guess, and she, with their four children, survive his death. Mrs. Theressa Guess is his senior sister, while Mrs. Dr. Hall of Pittsburgh, Herbert G. of Pine Hill, Oscar H. and Simeon D. of Harlem are junior sister and brothers. Deceased was an industrious man, a willing worker, and possessed a powerful physique. At the November election he was elected assessor of Lee Township without opposition.
