Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Thomas, 89, of near Harlem Springs, died in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Evelyn McGuire, on Monday, October 23, at 10:10 a.m. after an illness of two and one half years. She was born February 20, 1861, in Lee township, Carroll County, the daughter of the late Thomas and Matilda Telfer. She was married in February 1877 to Charles T. Thomas, who preceded her in death on December 27, 1941. she had lived in Lee Township for 66 years, and lived in Cleveland, Ohio from 1901 to 1924, when she moved to this vicinity again. She is survived by one son, James G. Thomas of Amsterdam; three daughters, Mrs. Evelyn McGuire of near Harlem Springs, Mrs. Anna Armstrong of Cleveland, Mrs. Bessie Jones of Akron; one brother, Albert Telfer of Jewett; seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son and three daughters. Funeral services will be held from the Allmon Funeral Home on Thursday, October 26, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Russell W. Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in the Harlem Springs Cemetery.
