Her obituary in the Carroll Chronicle, Carrollton, Ohio, Friday, May 25, 1906. Mrs. Ella Fawcett, widow of the late Alex. A. Fawcett, died Tuesday morning about 2 o'clock, and her remains were laid away at Kilgore yesterday forenoon. She was born September 1829 on the farm on which she died, hence was in her 77th year. She was married February 1, 1855, to A. A. Fawcett who died a little over a year ago. Her children are; Mrs. Mary Reed, deceased; Charlie of Martin's Ferry, Miss Ella, John H., and Mrs. H. H. Cogsil. Her parents emigrated to this country from the Isle of Man in 1826 and located in New Rumley, but in a few years bought the farm later owned by Mr. Fawcett. Another obituary for Ellen in the Carroll Chronicle, Friday, June 1, 1906. We are sorry to Chronicle the death of Mrs. Ellen Fawcett, who died at their home at this place on Tuesday, May 22. At an early age she became a member of the M. E. Church and was a regular and consistent member and was very liberal in her contributions to all religious and charitable purposes. In 1856 she married Alexander Fawcett and to them were born six children, four of whom are living; Mrs. Harvey Cogsil, John and Charles, and Miss Ella, who owing to the love and kindness of a devoted mother has never left the parental home. It can be truly said of Mrs. Fawcett, "Her home was her kingdom." No sacrifice was too great, no service unwillingly given, no labor of love left undone for those entrusted to her care. With the children bereft of one whose love can never be filled on earth, her holy presence will still linger. Her cheerful words and loving councils will be a guide to their pathway as the coming years bring many changes, the time will never come when the memory of a kind and loving mother will be effaced. How often the familiar words, "Mother, come back from that echo less shore." will come and were they find lodgment in the heart we take up our cross and say, "Not our will but thine, oh God, be done."
