Elroy was born June 20, 1922 in Frederick S.D., to Henry and Martha Braa. He attended school in Frederick and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Bette Jean Harm in 1946 and through that union had seven children: DeLores Ann, Wayne Roy, (twin boys who died at birth), Kathleen Marie, Deborah Lynn and Wendolyn Jo. Elroy and Bette divorced in 1961. Elroy moved to San Francisco, California, where he was employed at the San Francisco Mint until his retirement. Elroy's health began to fail in 2001 and he returned to South Dakota in 2004 to live at the Aberdeen Living Center until his passing. Grateful for having shared his life are his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Muriel Kuehne and Elaine Famias, and one brother Lloyd Braa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to go to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 733 3rd Ave, NY, NY 10017.
