Description	:	Esther Lyla (Hutton) Statelen, longtime Turner resident, entered the joy of her Lord, passing from this life on September 17, Thursday, at the age of 87. Esther was born on the family farm North of Turner along the Canadian border to William Denny and Hazel (Pierson) Hutton on November 12, 1921. She attended the Petrie School and went to work for the Frank Jones family at a young age. She laster moved to Turner and ran the Turner Cafe with her sister Olive Marie and sister Ruth helped out. It was at this time she met... Read More	Esther Lyla (Hutton) Statelen, longtime Turner resident, entered the joy of her Lord, passing from this life on September 17, Thursday, at the age of 87. Esther was born on the family farm North of Turner along the Canadian border to William Denny and Hazel (Pierson) Hutton on November 12, 1921. She attended the Petrie School and went to work for the Frank Jones family at a young age. She laster moved to Turner and ran the Turner Cafe with her sister Olive Marie and sister Ruth helped out. It was at this time she met Wayne Statelen. They were married on January 19, 1942. Four children were born to this union, son Clifford Wayne, who died at 3 days of age, daughters Roberta, Marilyn and Barbara. Her husband Wayne passed away on September 18, 1960. Esther worked hard to support her 3 girls She had different cleaning jobs as well as baby sitting. She sold and delivered Avon for 21 years in her old jalopy, as she called her car. In 1970 Esther went to work at the Turner Schhol as assistant cook for 21 years.She loved the kids and had the added bonus of enjoying hr grandhcildren through school. Esther was proud to be an American. She was a member of the Turner American Legion Auxiliary for 48 years. Esther sold her home in Turner in 1998 and moved to the Grand Villa in Chinook, where she made many new friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, son, parents, brothers and sisters. She is survived by daughters Roberta (Larry) Cederberg, Marily (Jim) Tooke all of Turner, Barbara Statelen of Chinook, 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
