She then called central for information as to who was calling; central saying it was Mrs. Soule, and it sounded as though she had dropped the receiver. Then Mrs. McCollough went over finding Mrs. Soule sitting on the floor. Relatives were immediately called, and all was done for her comfort, but the Master bid her come. She passed away shortly. Funeral services were held at the Christian Church, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. R.R. Kaiser in charge. Interment in Glasco cemetery. Mrs. Florence Soule At Norwood, Iowa, December 18, 1864, Florence Delilah was born to Mathews and Julia Ott. This girl was one of fifteen children -- nine boys and six girls and all but Andrew grew to manhood and womanhood. At the age of seventeen, Florence Ott became the wife of Jasper Hampton and bore him three children: Ed, Oscar and Theresa. These children were very small when their father was taken from them. In the spring of 1891, Florence gave the children another good father whose name was Harry L. Soule. Florence Hampton Soule bore one more child, Harry L. Junior. Later, Florence lost her only daughter, Theresa, and more sorrow came in 1914, when she became a widow a second time. Ten years later she lost her youngest child, Harry, and just a few months ago, she gave Oscar Hampton to the Maker of us all. Because of her faith in God, she was able to bear these many losses with unexcelled courage. This courage came to Florence Soule in great abundance and it in turn was imparted to countless numbers of homes where sickness and death came. Not only did she give freely of her spiritual self in time of need, but just as freely did she give of her physical efforts in order to lighten the burdens of others. Her church work, lodge duties or any task were begun and finished with pleasure and willingness. She practiced what is too often just preached, "That which is worth being done at all, is worth being done well." Her life was one of service which is the only key to blissful happiness. After all the years of service to mankind, this woman asked God to grant her this wish -- "To permit her to leave this world while she was still on her feet. To take her before she needed care from others." -- On the 6th day of December, 1934, God granted that wish in full. Ed Hampton, the oldest son, was spared to comfort this courageous mother in the last months of her earthly life. Five brothers: Edward, Daniel, Emerson, William and Arthur; five sisters: Sarah, Mary, Ellen, Emily, and Minnie. Five grandchildren, Ed's son and Oscar's two sons, and one daughter; one great-great-grandchild, descendant of Oscar, many nieces and nephews, besides friends from one coast to the other, feel lonely without Florence Soule, but all must rejoice that their loss is Heaven's gain.
