Glenn Forrest Stenger, 86, of 280 2nd Street NE, Carrollton, died Monday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Nina Maple, with whom he had resided for the past three years. He had been ill two days. Mr. Stenger was born August 21, 1881, in Loudon Twp., a son of the late Heber Lester and Sarah Jane (Stewart) Stenger. He was a life resident of Carroll county and spent most of his life in Harlem Springs. Mr. Stenger was a retired carpenter and former employee of Blue Ridge Bus Lines. He was married May 28, 1903, to Mary Emma "Mae" Allmon, who died May 30, 1967. Mr. Stenger was a member of Carrollton First Presbyterian Church, Carroll Lodge F & AM No. 124 and Carroll chapter 315, Order of Eastern Star. He also served on the Former Harlem Springs board of education for 16 years. He is survived by three other daughters, Mrs. Hallie Vahalik of Harlem Springs, Mrs. Geraldine Jones of Massillon and Mrs. Irene Culver of St. Louis, Missouri; two sons, Willard Stenger of Harlem Springs and James Stenger of North Canton; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Services are Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Allmon Funeral Home here with Rev. H. David McCalmont officiating. Masonic services were held Wednesday evening. Burial will be in Harlem Springs Cemetery.
