A quiet wedding took place at the home of Miss Helen Lawrence, south of town, last Wednesday evening, when Miss Lawrence was united in marriage with James I. Brown, of Michigan. The ceremony was performed by Rev. T. C. Stahl, of the M. E. Church here. A jolly bunch of serenaders from Harlem helped the evening pass pleasantly, but considerably to the detriment of Mr. Lawrence apple supply. Her obituary in the Free Press Standard, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, May 20, 1965. Mrs. Helen Ida Brown, 91, a life resident of Harlem Springs, died Monday in the home of her son Lawrence. She was a member of Harlem Springs United Church (Methodist) and the WSCS. Surviving are her son, Lawrence of the home; five step-daughters, Mrs. Eva Hower and Mrs. James McQueen of Cass City, Michigan, and Mrs. Ella Brown of Trenton, Michigan and Mrs. Iva Ferrenberg of Millbury, Ohio; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Her husband, James I. Brown, preceded her in death December 14, 1952. Services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the church with Rev. Paul Sells officiating. Burial will be in the Harlem Springs Cemetery. The Sweeney Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
