Daughter of John Wesley Marker and Julia Melvina Parker OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, April 27, 1933 MRS. GEORGE POTTORFF Ida Emma, eldest child of J. W. and Julia Marker, was born March 19, 1882, near Norwood, Iowa, and passed from this life April 21, 1933, at a hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 51 years, 1 month and 2 days. On Dec. 1st, 1915, she was married to George Pottorff at the United Brethren church in Chariton, Iowa, Rev. E. W. Curtis officiating. To this union three sons were born, Glenn, who died Nov. 12th, 1918, and Orbin and Clyde. She was converted and united with the United Brethren church at Norwood several years ago and remained true to her convictions to the end. During her sickness she told her loved ones she was going home, telling her boys to always be good. Mrs. Pottorff leaves to mourn her departure, her companion, George Pottorff, two sons, Orbin and Clyde, her aged father, J. W. Marker, also five brothers, Edd., Clint, Jesse, Milt and Riley, all of Lacona, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Dollie Pottorff, of Kellerton, Iowa, and Mrs. Olive Chandler, of Lucas, Iowa, and many other relatives and friends. During her sojourn upon this earth she was always interested in the welfare of others and ever ready to minister to their comfort. She was very devoted to her companion, children and home, ever working to the end that they might have and enjoy a home in this life. Funeral services, conducted by Elder James Robinson, of Lacona, assisted by Rev. Watts, of Norwood, were held April 23rd at the United Brethren church at Norwood, with burial in the Fletcher cemetery. Music was furnished by a Lacona quartette composed of Mrs. Swanson, Mrs. Ralston, D. A. Parkins and Mr. Robinson, with Mrs. McKnight at the piano. A large concourse of people followed the remains to the cemetery, thus showing the esteem in which she was held. For this and the many other acts of kindness and services rendered, the family desires to express their sincere thanks.
