He lived here most of his life. Mr. Melchoir was employed by the Santa Fe Railway 47 years. He retired in 1969 as a personnel records clerk. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Knight of Columbus, No. 2608. He was married to Laura Weigel on June 3, 1930, at Topeka. She survives. Clickner, West Wareham, Mass., Mrs. Delores Bacon, 4011 N.W. Morley Road, and Mrs. Laura K. Habig, 1123 Arter; a sister, Mrs. Mary Schwerdt 1610 Buchanan; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Melchoir will lie in state from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at Brennan Funeral Home, with a wake scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The Knights of Columbus will recite a rosary Friday evening. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shawnee County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, 3003 Van Buren, Topeka, 66607.
