Read More	His obituary in the Carroll Chronicle, Carrollton, Ohio, Friday, April 21, 1905. Jacob Yeager was born July 26, 1844, and died April 8, 1905, aged 60 years, 5 months, 12 days. He united with the Harlem Springs M. E. Church under the ministry of Revs. Wright and Connor in 1868 and remained a consistent Christian until death. He was united in marriage with Emaline Burrier February 22, 1866, to which union were born five children; Flora A. Heisler, William E., who died October 10, 1900, Laura Belle who died in the 4th year of her age, Alice E. Mallernee, and Rev. A. E. Yeager of the E. O. C. He was a loving father, dutiful husband and kind neighbor. When his country's flag was in need of defense as soon as he had passed the required age 18, he enlisted for three years, of which time he spent 35 months, the war closing before his term of enlistment had expired. He was wounded in the right lower limb between the knee and thigh in the battle of Chickamauga. He delighted to meet with his comrades in the post room and camp fires, and on decoration day took great pride in paying tribute to the memories of fallen comrades. Now his surviving comrades walk softly and drop a flower on his mound. While he has been mustered out -- both from the G. A. R. and the cause of Christ on earth -- we believe him enlisted with the army who have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. His obituary in the Carroll Chronicle, Carrollton, Ohio, Friday, April 14, 1905. Jacob Yeager died Saturday night about midnight at the home of Jesse Simmons, a neighbor farmer. He had gone to Simmons's that afternoon at 1 o'clock to help at some hauling and in the course of an hour or two he was too ill to further proceed and died at Mr. Simmons's house, being too ill to be taken home. His remains were interred at Harlem Tuesday forenoon. Jacob Yeager's life was passed on the farm and he was ever a good citizen. He was a patriot, too, having been a member of the 98th O. V. I. and saw as hard service as any soldier from Carroll County. He was a life-long Methodist. His age was about 61. His widow survives, also three children; Mrs. William Mallernee of Harlem, Mrs. Anna Heisler of Anpolis, and Rev. Alvin Yeager of Fairview, Guernsey County. TRIBUTE IN MEMORY OF JACOB YEAGER, by the Harlem Springs Post, No. 624, G. A. R. He enlisted August 6th, 1862, in Co. H 98th Ohio regiment, and participated in all the vicissitudes of the regiment except when confined in hospital with a wound received at Chickamauga. He was discharged with his company and regiment on June 1st, 1865. His career in the Civil War was an honorable one. He was quiet and unassuming in manner, but always ready for duty. He was a charter member of this post on its organization in 1887 and was a zealous member until his death which occurred on April 8th 1905. The Post held G. A. R., service at the funeral. James M.
