Loved mother of Margaret Alles & husband Arnold, John Weber & wife Patricia, all of Mount Forest. She is also survived by her brother James (Sonny) Thompson & wife Kerren of Mount Forest. Jean was very active in her community as a long time member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Chairperson for the Mount Forest Heritage Society and worked tirelessly in the past on town council. She was the court reporter for the area newspapers for many years and also as a sports columnist for the Mount Forest Confederate, reporting on the local curling with “The Hog Line”, as well working as an assistant librarian at our local high school. She Loved Mount Forest and that passion and love helped her to conceive and establish the Mount Forest Heritage Society and Archives, housed at the old Post Office. Jean was also known as a woman who spoke her mind and never minced words. We all admire her spirit and she will be missed by all those who loved and knew her. Friends may call at the Hendrick Funeral Home, Mount Forest on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00p.m. The Funeral service will be held at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Mount Forest on Thursday January 7th at 1:00p.m. Memorial donations to Mount Forest Heritage Society and Archives, St. Andrews Presbyterian Church or Cancer Patient Services would be appreciated by the family.
