Description	:	His obituary in the Carroll Chronicle, Carrollton, Ohio, Friday, August 16. 1907. John Wenner, a prominent farmer and big land-owner of Lee Township, died Tuesday evening at 9 o'clock. He had been ill since the winter term of common pleas court which he attended as a juror. His ailment was Bright's disease. The remains were interred Thursday at 10 o'clock at Kilgore, near where he spent his entire life. He was born in Perry Township, July 15, 1839. His ailment was Bright's disease. The remains were interred Thursday at 10 o'clock at Kilgore, near where he spent his entire life. He was born in Perry Township, July 15, 1839. In 1864 he was married to a daughter of Hiram Slates who survives his death. Three daughters and four sons were born to them; Mrs. James Slates, Mrs. Thomas Gotschall, Mrs. Erna Patterson and Messrs. William S., A. C., Edwin and Chapman, all of whom live in the vicinity. Mr. and Mrs. Patterson lived with their parents. Mr. Wenner was reasonably successful in worldly affairs and leaves an estate of 480 acres, well improved and fairly stocked. He was a standard citizen who always lived up to the expectations of his friends. In religion a Lutheran, in politics a democrat, and in all things an honorable man. Civil War Veteran, Served in the 20th Independent Battery of Ohio Light Artilery September 18, 1862 until discharged on July 13, 1865.
