OBITUARY: Cumberland Evening Times (Cumberland, Maryland), Thursday, November 28, 1940 – Page 13 Mountain Lake Park, Md., Nov. 28 – Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Josephine Armstrong, 60, who died Monday after an illness of several years. Mrs. Armstrong was a native of Sang Run, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William H. Hoye. Shortly after the Spanish war, she followed her brother, Charles E. Hoye, to the Philippine Islands. In Albay, P. I., she was united in marriage to Capt. Geroge L. Armstrong, and to this union were born four children in Manila. In 1914, Mrs. Armstrong's health began to fail, and it was advised that she return to the states. This she did, taking up residence in South Dakota and later in California. Services were conducted at the Sang Run Methodist Church by the Rev. Garrett Evans, of the Methodist Chruch at Mt. Lake Park. Interment was at Sang Run. Survivors are three sons, Dr. William H. Armstrong, Bowie; Albert Armstrong, Pomona, Calif., and Robert L. Armstrong, of the U.S. Marine Corps; one sister, Mrs. Helen Enlow, Zion City, Ill.; and a brother, Charles E. Hoye, Mountain Lake Park. Pallbearers were William Hoye, Ralph Hoye, G. E. Hoye, Wilber Hoye, Frank Hoye, and Martin Friend, cousins. (Transcribed by Ronn E. Friend)
