Joshua Marshall Ray, son of Charles and Lydia (Marshall) Ray, was born in Washington Township, August 14, 1866 and died at 10 p.m. December 5, 1936 at the home of his son, Clarence Ray, of Canton Road, Carrollton, Ohio, aged 70 years, 3 months and 21 days. Five weeks ago Mr. Ray fell from upstairs in his barn to the basement and suffered injuries which caused his death. Mr. Ray was united in marriage with Anna Florence Long, January 1, 1899. His wife survives with the following children: Mrs. Grace Barber, of Alliance; Mrs. Mabel Hull of Mechanicstown; Orville Ray of Wintersville; Clarence Ray, of Carrollton; Curtis Ray of Carrollton, Donald Ray of the home and 11 grandchildren; two brothers and 3 sisters; Mack Ray, of Mechanicstown; Irvin Ray, of Carrollton, Mrs. Sarah Baker of Warren; Mrs. Malinda Cummings of Carrollton; Miss Eva Ray of Mechanicstown. Mr. Ray followed farming all his life and lived most of his life in Fox township, near Mechanicstown. He was a member of the Mt. Olivet Christian Church. He was a useful and respected citizen who will be greatly missed by those who knew him best. A brief service was held at 1:30 p.m. at Clarence Ray's home, and at 2 in the Christian Church here. Rev. F. C. Ford will officiate, with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Information researched by Richard Paul Culler of Carrollton, Ohio.
