Description	:	Mrs. Mary Krause Dry, daughter of Charles F. Krause and Elizabeth Fletcher Krause, was born at Bloomington, Illinois August 16, 1874. At the age of 87 years and 15 days she passed on to be with her Lord August 31, 1961, Mary, as she was known by her many friends, was critically ill only a few days. Krause and Elizabeth Fletcher Krause, was born at Bloomington, Illinois August 16, 1874. At the age of 87 years and 15 days she passed on to be with her Lord August 31, 1961, Mary, as she was known by her many friends, was critically ill only a few days. She moved to this community with her parents in 1887. Little did she realize that this was to be her home for the next 74 years. As a new resident in the community she met Harley Dry, one of their neighbors. Their friendship advanced, and on December 23, 1891 she was united in marriage to Harley Dry in her parents farm home in the community between Chester and Byron. To this union was added one son and one daughter, Lawrence Dry of Mitchell and Mrs. Lottie Cummins of Lincoln. She attended school at Byron. A life of hard work, consecrated to help her husband and make a good home for her family, was a constant source of happiness. She was always willing to help her community, but she put The Church first. She accepted Christ as her Saviour and was immersed September 23, 1904. She was also a member of the Loyal Womens Class and the Christian Womens Fellowship. She attended the Christian Church of Chester and was always faithful. She is survived by her husband Harley Dry; children, Lawrence and Lottie; one sister, Mrs. Ruby Ward of Chicago, Ill., two grandchildren, Mrs. Elizabeth Brown of Western Springs, Ill. and Mrs. Barbara Snider of Tucson, Ariz.; four great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters. "Blessed are the dead which died in the Lord from henceforth...that they may rest from their Labours; and their works do follow them." (Revelation 14:13). Funeral services were held at the Chester Christian Church on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 3, 1961, the Rev. Paul Wickenkamp in charge. Singers were Mrs. Wilbert Crouse, Mrs. Donald Canfield, Ernest Moxham, and Ed Richards with Mrs. Ray Truss, accompanist. The casket bearers were Fletcher Krause, Ray Truss, John Sell, Ben Adams, Clay Davenport and Paul Dry. Interment was in the Chester cemetery (sic). The Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Funeral Service was in charge.
