Read More	Obituary: The Hooper Sentinel October 1, 1931 Pioneer Woman Called by Death Mrs. William Rupert, one of the few remaining pioneer women of this locality, passed away last Friday morning, September, 25, 1931, at 4:25 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. H. Shippee, and Mr. Shippee, of Norfolk. Her death was due to heart trouble. Though in failing health the past couple of years, it was not until two weeks before her death that she was taken to her bed, and from that time on her decline was rapid. Her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Jeffers, was called to Norfolk last Wednesday and was with her mother when the end came. The news of her demise was sorrowfully heard by the many friends of this place and all extend sympathy to the bereaved members of the family. Her body was brought to Hooper and taken to the old home south of the tracks to await the day of the funeral. This was held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock from the Methodist church of which she had been a faithful member for 56 years. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. E. S. Pangburn who gave a very glowing tribute to her memory and her long-time membership in the church. It was a largely attended funeral and the church could not near hold the people who had come to pay her their last mark of respect. Interment was made in the Hooper cemetery and the cortege was long that followed her remains to their final resting place. As Minnie Uehling, Mrs. Rupert was born at Watertown, Wisc., October 11, 1853, and thus she had attained the age of 77 years, 11 months and 14 days. When a girl of 12 years she came with her parents to Nebraska, the family locating at Logan Mills northeast of the present site of Hooper, and during the interweaving 66 years this place and community had been her home. Her marriage to Mr. William Rupert occurred in September, 1869. Mr. Rupert died thirteen years ago. After the marriage they resided on a farm, but five years latter they moved to Hooper which then had been, but recently founded and little city has since claimed her as one of its citizens. Mrs. Rupert was a devoted wife and mother, and kindly and helpful friend and neighbor, always thoughtful for the feeling of others and never too busy but that she could find time to lend a helping hand whenever her services might be needed. Her motherly and friendly nature endeared her to her friends, and her loss is just as deeply felt by them as it is by her family. Her close surviving relatives are four daughters and three sons, W. J. Rupert of Sioux City, Iowa, Mrs. William Jeffers of Hooper, Mrs. Emma Sanders of West Point Mrs. W. H. Shippee of Norfolk, Mrs. George H. Moyer of Lamesa Calif., Lieutenant J. F. Rupert of th U. S. Navy, and Julius Rupert of Oakdale. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
