Mino Zimmerman 1881-1949 Mr. Mino Zimmerman departed this life at Mercy Hospital at Anamosa last Thursday morning at 6:15, after a lingering illness. Mino Zimmerman, son of Mr. Gerd Zimmerman and his wife, was born at Strackholt, Germany, March 2, 1881. He received the sacred rite of Holy Baptism as an infant. At the age of 14 years he came to America making his home with his uncle, Arndt Zimmerman. He attended school and after receiving instruction in the fundamental doctrine of Christian religion was confirmed on March 29, 1895. On October 24, 1907, he was united in marriage with Sophie Dirks. The young couple at first lived on a farm near Center Junction. Their home was blessed with 12 children, of which one son died in infancy, and one daughter, Mrs. Frieda Soper, August 24, 1947. Mr. Zimmerman later purchased a farm on the Newport road, on which they lived, for 20 years. At which time he retired from farming and moved to Newport, two of the sons, August and Minehart, taking over the farm. Here Mrs. Zimmerman died, April 6, 1944. On January 10, 1945, he entered into marriage union with Mrs. Emma House of Lisbon and they moved to a home in Anamosa. For the last two years he has been ailing but was able to be about until last October, since which time he was confined to his home. As his condition grew worse, he was taken to the hospital but he rallied and was able to return home again. Last week he became seriously, ill and realized that the Lord was calling him. He was rushed to the hospital. Thus conforted with the word of God and Strengthened with the Sacrament he peacefully fell asleep. His age was 67 years, 11 months and 15 day. During his illness he received the best of care at the hands of his wife and children. His death is mourned by his wife Emma, his children: Grace, Mrs. Leslie Frankfurt, Anamosa; Margaret, Mrs. Howard Schellen, Anamosa; Louis, Clarence; August, Olin; Mary, Mrs. Marion Byers, Olin; Leona, Mrs. Richard Luck, Oelwein; Minehart, Olin; George, Hale; John, Cedar Rapids; Elnora, Mrs. Robert Paulsen, Chicago; 19 grand-children and one great-grand-child; one brother, Ralph, Monticello; and a host of friends.
