Mrs. Jennie Stackhouse Teasley, who for 54 years was a resident oof Cloud County, died at the Teasley homestead June 1, 1922. Although Mrs. Teasley had been in failing health for some time, yet the children thought she was improving in health. On the day of her death, she ate a hearty breakfast and spoke cheerfully about things. About four o'clock in the afternoon she became very ill and before the children who were living in the neighborhood could be summoned and get to her bedside, she had passed away. Thus, one of Glasco's worthy citizens has gone. Jeannie Stackhouse was born in Orange County, Indiana, Dec. 24, 1852 and died June 1, 1922. Age 69 years, 5 months and 8 days. Her childhood days were spent in Indiana. She moved with her parents to Cloud County, Kansas in 1968. She was married to W. W. Teasley in 1870. To this union were born eight children. They are Mrs. Emma Wells, Henry Teasley, George Teasley, Thomas Teasley, Cal Teasley, all of Glasco, Kansas; Mrs. I. N. Moore, Concordia, Mrs. Ed Anglin, Pratt, Kansas and Dora May Teasley, who died several years ago. Mr. W. W. Teasley, the husband, passed on 19 years ago. There are 16 living grandchildren and two great children, one living sister, Mrs. H. Duffey, of Simpson and three brothers, Jess Stackhouse of Beloit, Tom Stackhouse of Rexford, Kansas and A. J. Stackhouse of Perry, Oklahoma. The community has lost a faithful hard-working neighbor and friend. She came to Kansas with the very early settlers when Cloud County was an uninviting, bare plain and no home or improvement upon it. By frugality and hard work, she helped to make the old homestead upon which she and her husband settled in 1870, to blossom as the rose and give place for a good home. To the pioneer mothers, this generation owes a great debt. Funeral services were held in the M. E. Church of Glasco, of which she was a member on Saturday June 3, 1922 conducted by Rev. F. N. Stelson. Interment was made in the Glasco Cemetery beside her departed husband.
