Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 21, from the Slininger Chapel in Jefferson for Olive V. Farley, 92, longtime Greene county resident. "The Rev. Roger F. Miller, pastor of the Central Christian Church of Jefferson, officiated. Helen Wilson was organist. "Casketbearers were Boyd Underwood, Claude Gardner, Fred Turner, Carl Garnet, Dick Murphy and Adolph Schirmbeck. Interment was in Highland Township Cemetery at Churdan. "Olive Violet Farley was born Nov. 15, 1891, at Paton, the daughter of Phillip and Sarah Hauze Kloss. Her parents were pioneer settlers in Dawson Twp. upon their arrival from Pennsylvania. She attended rural schools in Bristol and Highland townships. "When Olive was a young girl, her parents came to Bristol Township to serve as stewards of the Greene County Farm. Later the family moved to a farm near Churdan. "On Nov. 24, 1911, Olive was united in marriage with Lewis Farley at Carroll. They were the parents of five daughters and three sons. During their marriage they farmed in Carroll and Greene counties with the exception of a few years prior to 1920 when they resided in North Dakota. "In 1967 Olive and Lewis retired to live in Jefferson. After Lewis' death in 1973 Olive contineued to reside in their home until she entered the Long Term Care Center in 1982. "Olive died March 18 in Jefferson. She was a member of Central Christian Church in Jefferson. "Olive was preceded in death by her husband Lewis in 1973; two infants, William Dean and Ramona Jean; a son, Chester Merle in 1952; and two grandsons, Bobby Farley and David Ferguson. Also preceding her in death were her parents, her five sisters and three brothers. "Those who survive include four daughters, Ruth (Mrs. Charles) Ramsay of Santa Paula, CA, Irene (Mrs. Charles) Ferguson of Lohrville, Rebecca (Mrs. Max) Whitver of Jefferson and Mae (Mrs. Vern) Naffziger of Pearblossom, CA; one son, Robert Farley of Churdan; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren."
