The following life sketch was read. Orville Harold Durbin, son of Ivan and Eva Durbin, was born on a farm near Henderson on June 16, 1892 and passed away at Colonial Oaks Home in Red Oak on November 15, 1966 following several months of illness. He was a lifelong resident of Mills County. At the age of seven years he with his parents moved from Henderson to the present family farm near Hastings. He attended the North Grove Country School, Hastings High School, Tabor College, and a short term at Iowa State University at Ames. On December 14, 1912 he was married to Vesta Cheney and they lived on the family farm until 1940 when they moved to Malvern. To this union was born a daughter who died in infancy and a son Ivan who resides on the family farm. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Hastings as a young man, later attending the Baptist Church in Emerson and Malvern. His wife, parents, and infant daughter preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing, his son, Ivan and wife Floy, two granddaughters, Christine of Omaha, and Barbara and husband, Bill Douglas of Emerson; four great grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Ruth Crozier and a niece, Mrs. Ray Hibbing, both of Riverside California; aunts, cousins, and friends.
