The social event of our neighborhood was the surprise party of the birthday of Mrs. Adam Burrier. Quite a number of our folks wended their way to the residence of Adam Burrier, about one mile north of town, for the purpose of giving Mrs. Burrier a pleasant surprise. The social event of our neighborhood was the surprise party of the birthday of Mrs. Adam Burrier. Quite a number of our folks wended their way to the residence of Adam Burrier, about one mile north of town, for the purpose of giving Mrs. Burrier a pleasant surprise. We at once, together with Mr. and Mrs. Burrier, wended our way to the beautiful sugar grove of Philip Burrier, 1/4 mile distant, where we were joined by over one hundred. After spending an hour socially and listening to the excellent music, we were invited to surround a table--80 feet in length, which was loaded with a burden of luxuries. Full possession was given us, and there was no delay on our part of feasting sumptuously. All were fully relatives, friends and guests partook of the good things. After the repast we were invited to listen to appropriate address by Rev. Keller, Dr. J. W. Nixon and E. P. Walker. Mrs. Burrier was the recipient of many presents. An elegant bible and a handsome dress deserves special mention. Alpheus Lowmiller furnished excellent music with the celebrated Organette. After spending the day in social enjoyment, and wishing Mr. and Mrs. Burrier many such happy events, the crowed dispersed. A Guest.
