Mrs. Samantha Jane McCorkhill, wife of George McCorkhill, died at 10 p.m., Thursday, after a lingering illness with cancer. After a brief service at the home near Carrollton the body was taken to Simmons' Ridge Church where service was conducted by rev. B. H. Fisher and rev. W. E. Rowe. Burial was made at Simmons' Ridge. The deceased was a daughter of the late David and Eliza Jane Brown and was born in Loudon Twp., December 2, 1858. She was married to George McCorkhill in 1890. Surviving are the husband; a son, Charles McCorkhill of Salem, former prosecuting attorney of Carroll County; two daughters, Mrs. Nora M. Noble of Harlem and Mrs. Clara B. Gay of Clinton, two brothers, A. C. and William Brown of Harlem; three sisters, Mrs. George Gotschall and Mrs. Charlotta Trushel of Carrollton and Miss Zella Brown of Carrollton. In her youth Mrs. McCorkhill united with the M. E. Church at Simmons' Ridge and later became a member of Carrollton M. E. Church. Her obituary in the Free Press Standard, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, November 3, 1927. Samantha Jane McCorkhill, wife of George W. McCorkhill and a lifelong resident of Carroll County, died at 10 p.m. Thursday, October 27, at her home south of Carrollton. She was in ill health for nearly a year, and was seriously ill for two weeks before her death. Her death. Her death resulted from complications. She was born December 3, 1858, in Loudon Township, and was a daughter of David and Eliza Jane (Long) Brown. She was married December 15, 1890, to George W. McCorkhill. She leaves besides her husband two daughters, Nora May, wife of Arthur Noble, of Harlem Springs, and Clara Belle, wife of Vincent Gay of Akron; a son, Charles McCorkhill of Salem; three sisters, Miss Zella Brown of Harlem Springs, Mrs. Lottie Trushel of Carrollton and Mrs. George Gotschall of Union Township, and two brothers, William and Cook Brown of Harlem Springs. Thomas Brown, a brother, died about 10 years ago. Mrs. McCorkhill was a member of the Carrollton Methodist church. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Simmons Ridge Methodist church and were in charge of Rev. W. S. Rowe and Rev. B. H. Fisher. Burial was in Simmons Ridge cemetery.
