Description	:	Mr. Samuel Duey died at his home at Chester, Nebraska, on Monday, November 14, from a stroke of paralysis which he sustained on Saturday afternoon, November 12. He was aged 55 years, 7 months and 21 days. He is survived by a wife and one son, William. He is also survived by five brothers and four sisters, Martin, John, Joseph, Parker and Jacob, of Chester, Nebraska; Mrs. Throne in the west; Mrs. Annie Kinert, of Kansas, Mrs. William Carl, Allegheny, Pa., and Mrs. John Smarsh, West Fairview. The deceased was a son of the late William Duey, of Plainfield. For many years he resided at Plainfield, after which he removed to Chester, Neb. About one year ago he returned with his family to this county and moved to Mt. Holly. Last Spring he again returned to the west, where he has since resided. He was well known in this county, and had many friends. Unknown newspaper or date ----------------------------------- Samuel Duey Born, March 23, 1849. Age, 55 years, 7 months, 21 days. Funeral was held Tuesday, at 3 p.m. from the Methodist church (sic), conducted by Rev. E.M. Furman, and the remains were laid to rest in the Chester cemetery (sic). The direct cause of his death was paralysis. He received a shock sometime since from which he was rendered nearly helpless, but was able to get around, when on Saturday last he received a more vital shock, which terminated in his death at 10:50 a.m. on Monday. He was born near Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and in December, 1869, married Miss Catharine Powley, by whom he had two children, one of whom, William M. Duey, of this city, together with the widow, five brothers and four sisters, survive him. He came to Nebraska in 1889 and, with the exception of about five month (sic) which he spent in his home in Pennsylvania last year, and lived here since that time. He was the second in a family of thirteen, nine of whom are still living, and the oldest brother of Martin, Joseph and Jacob Duey of this city, and Parke (sic) and John Duey, of Kingman county (sic), Kansas; the sisters being: Mrs. Anna Kinert, of Kingman county (sic), Kansas, Mrs. Susan Throne, of Republic county (sic), Kansas, and Sabella (sic) Carl and Mrs. Sallie Smarshs (sic) of Pennsylvania.
