He was listed as age 52 born May 1848 in Ohio, his wife Helen J. age 41 born February 1859 in Ohio, their children listed were; Oscar V. age 23 born May 1877, Georgia G. age 21 born November 1878, Mary D. age 19 born November 1880, Anna M. age 12 born May 1888 and Edna B. age 8 born March 1892, all born in Ohio. It also stated Samuel and Helen were married for 22 years, and had 6 children, and 5 were still living at that time. His obituary in the Free Press Standard, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, July 13, 1911. Samuel L. Beatty died at his home near Kilgore on July 6, aged 63 years, 2 months and 1 day. He united with the Methodist Episcopal Church at East Speingfield at the age of 25. He was a kind and loving husband and father. He has gone to the land of the blest where it is one bright summer always and stormes do not come. He will be missed not only in the home, where all will seem so dark and lonely, but by friend and neighbor as well. He was married March 4, 1877, to Helen J. Orr. To this union were born six children, one having preceded him to the great beyond. He leaves to mourn his death Mrs. Beatty and the following children: Anna, Belle and Oscar, at home, Mrs. Frank Kail, near Carrollton and Mrs. Thomas Albaugh, of Kilgore. Two sisters and one brother along with 9 grandchildren survive. Miss Kate Beatty, of Steubenville, Mrs. Belle Thompson, of Nebraska, and James Beatty, of Dalton.
