Description	:	Therese Oyharcabel Smith WILLOWDALE -Smith, Therese Oyharcabel. It was on Oct. 9, 1905 that the Lord blessed Dominique and Marguerite Gastellu Oyharcabel with their second daughter. On Jan. 4, 2009, Therese Oyharcabel Smith was called by Him to return home. After a 103 year journey here on the Good Earth, she now rejoins The Lord and her family in everlasting life. After a 103 year journey here on the Good Earth, she now rejoins The Lord and her family in everlasting life. Therese was born and raised in Irissary, France. She was the fourth of seven children in the Oyharcabel family. As a young adult she and her sister, Marcelle, emigrated to this country in 1927. Like many did that day, they entered the United States through New York City at Ellis Island. They would travel west by train and were met in Eureka, Nev. by their brother, Pierre. They settled there and began working. It was there that she met, and later married, John Jauregito. They lived and ranched in that area for several years until the marriage ended. She and her sister then moved to Elko. Therese then worked as a nanny for Dr. and Mrs. Hood. In 1940, she met the love of her life, Harold Smith. They were engaged and married in January of that year. They lived in Elko briefly until Harold joined the Fighting Sea Bees in WWII. Therese would follow Harold to several destinations stateside until he shipped out to the South Pacific. After the war they decided to settle in Elko where many of their family resided. Harold's brother, George, was Monsignor at St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Therese's sister, Marcelle had started her own family after marrying Pete Ernaut. Harold became a contractor and Therese a caregiver. It was then they were hired by Bing Crosby to work at the PX Ranches in Northfolk. Harold was a master carpenter and Therese cared for the Bing's wife, Dixie, and the Crosby children. After Crosby sold the ranches, they returned to Elko and lived until Harold passed in 1971. Therese would go on to manage the Rahas apartments and was an active member of St. Joseph's as well. In 2002, she then moved to Reno to be closer to the Ernaut family. She was an incredible and vibrant woman with a love of life and family. We will dearly miss Therese and her laughter. Therese was preceded in death by her parents. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Michel, Pierre and Gabriel; as well as sisters, Marie, Celestine and Marcelle. And of course, she now can join her beloved Harold after so many years. Therese is survived by her nephew, Robert Ernaut; her great-nephew, Stephen Ernaut; the family of great-nephew, Peter and Wendy Ernaut and their children, Bobby, Henry, P.J. and Isabella, all of Reno. She also is survived by a loving and extended Oyharcabel family in the U.S. and France, the Jauregito family in Nevada, as well as the Smith family in Kansas. Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman, Kan.; Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Willowdale, Kan.; interment will follow at Willowdale Cemetery.
