Description	:	Velora Selma Uttecht was born on December 10, 1913 at Tripp, South Dakota to Jacob and Marie (Winter) Lippert. She went to country school through the 8th grade. Velora married Otto Uttecht on May 3rd, 1932 at Parkston, South Dakota by Pastor R.G. Kaiser. She was a member of the Emmaus Lutheran Church and was a member of the L.W.M. Ladies' Aid for over 60 years. She and Otto were caretakers at Emmaus Lutheran for many years. She worked at the Tripp School as head cook for 13 years, then as a part-time cook at... Read More	Velora Selma Uttecht was born on December 10, 1913 at Tripp, South Dakota to Jacob and Marie (Winter) Lippert. She went to country school through the 8th grade. Velora married Otto Uttecht on May 3rd, 1932 at Parkston, South Dakota by Pastor R.G. Kaiser. She was a member of the Emmaus Lutheran Church and was a member of the L.W.M. Ladies' Aid for over 60 years. She and Otto were caretakers at Emmaus Lutheran for many years. She worked at the Tripp School as head cook for 13 years, then as a part-time cook at the Tripp Good Samaritan Center. She also worked at the Tripp Library. In recent years, Velora made her home at Leisure Living in Hartford, South Dakota where she died peacefully on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at the age of 92 years. Velora's memory will be cherished by her son, Jim (Diane) Uttecht of Hartford; daughter Marjean (Art) Millard of Mustang, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law Lorrie Uttecht of Yuba City, California; ten grandchildren: Debbie, Kim, Karen and Greg Uttecht, Valerie, Bill, Shawna and Jerry Nadeau and Michael and Mark Uttecht; 10 great-grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Frieda Weiger of Mitchell, South Dakota and Verna Schilling of Portland, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto; a son, Don and an infant daughter, Janice; her parents; six sisters: Luella Weisz, Ruth Weber, Linda Dewald, Atea Holbeck, Esther Weisser and Violet Fode; and two brothers, Ammon Lippert and one infant brother.
