Barrows, was born October 17, 1870, at Waverly, Ill., and passed away at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital, Superior, Nebraska, April 12, 1949. Age 78 years, 5 months and 25 days. He came to Nebraska with his parents when he was 8 years old, lived in Clay County for a few years, then moved to Nuckolls County where he has had continued residence. For many years he farmed. Barrows, was born October 17, 1870, at Waverly, Ill., and passed away at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital, Superior, Nebraska, April 12, 1949. Age 78 years, 5 months and 25 days. He came to Nebraska with his parents when he was 8 years old, lived in Clay County for a few years, then moved to Nuckolls County where he has had continued residence. For many years he farmed. After moving to Nelson in 1915 he was employed by the State in Highway maintenance work. The past few years due to his physical condition he led a comparatively quiet life. He was united in marriage to Cora M. Sims, December 25, 1889, who preceded him in death in 1920. Twelve children were born to this union, six of whom survive him: Paul Barrows of Nelson, Nebr.; H.J. Barrows, Denver, Colo.; Nelle Gray, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Della Cox, Niles, Mich., Frances Hunsberger, Albuquerque; Frank Barrows of Nelson. There are seven grandchildren and one great grand child; also one sister, Grayce M. Barrows of Nelson, who survive him, all of whom feel an irreparable loss, as his family and his home made up a bit part of his life. He was a wonderful Dad. The funeral services were held at the Klawitter Chapel this, Thursday, afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. E.B. Stewart. Mrs. W.L. Portwood and Mrs. Pearl Clem sang "Abide With Me," "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," and "Leave It With Him." Mrs. H.H. Hite accompanied them at the piano. The pallbearers were: Dick Bargen, Harve Williams, M.G. Sibert, Bert Carmen, Wm. Schiermeyer and L.G. Adamson. Burial was in the Nelson cemetery (sic). The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, April 14, 1949
