He was married to Nancy Fawcett on March 2, 1869 in Carroll County, Ohio. They moved to Maysville, Missouri, and lived there for some time. Nancy ended up dying there in 1873. Thompson, veteran of the civil war, died Sunday afternoon at his home in Harlem Springs of the infirmities of age. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10 a.m., and were conducted by Rev. K. J. Stewart. Burial was made at Harlem. The deceased was born November 14, 1836, on the old home farm in Lee Township, being the eldest son of Morgan and Margaret Thompson, former of whom was a native of Maryland. On March 2, 1869, William H. Thompson was married to Nancy Fawcett, daughter of Alexander Fawcett, of Lee Twp. She died in 1873, and was buried at Maysville, Missouri. On December 10, 1861, Mr. Thompson enlisted in the 80th O.V.I., and after four years' service was mustered out in Savannah, Georgia. This regiment served under Gen. Sherman and participated in the famous "march to the sea." Two children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Thompson: Anna B. and Harvey M., of whom the former survives. Surviving also are a brother, James Thompson of Carrollton, and a sister, Mrs. Ollie Benfer of Magnolia, and two grandchildren. Mr. Thompson was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
