It also stated Andrew emigrated from Scotland in 1863, and him and Emma were married for 14 years, and had 5 children and all 5 still living. His obituary in the Carroll Chronicle, Carrollton, Ohio, Friday, June 28, 1901. Andrew Tinlin the Kilgore Merchant, Shot Himself Through the heart Tuesday Morning. People were very much surprised Tuesday to hear that Andrew E. Tinlin had committed suicide. He went to the second story of his store building and shot himself through the heart. Several persons in the store below heard the report and as he had just left their company they ran up stairs and found him lying on the floor on two or three floor coverings he had laid down. Death was instantaneous. He had seemed entirely rational except that he was distressed over business matters. The firm of Tinlin Bros. had sold out their real estate to their competitors and had to vacate the room July 1 and a part of the stock of goods remained unsold, but no one had cause to suspect his mind had become unbalanced over what ought to seem a comparatively small affair to a business man. He had been severely ill during the winter and was yet in frail health, having been reduced in flesh from 140 to about 120 pounds. Deceased was about 43 years of age. He was a brother of George S. Tinlin and his associate in the dry goods business in Kilgore. He was appointed postmaster at Kilgore in 1897, which position he recently resigned. Having sold out the store he was looking out for a new location and it was thought at times that he would go into business in Carrollton. The distressing circumstance is one for deep regret, and profound sympathy is extended to the bereaved widow who is completely crushed over the affair. They have five children, the youngest of whom is an invalid. Remains were interred yesterday.
