Luther Dies in Fremont August F. Luther, 80, a former stockman in the Hooper vicinity and a resident of Fremont for many years, died about 7:15 p. m. Friday at the Dodge County Community hospital, where he was taken Friday afternoon. He had been in poor health for the past three years. Born September 29, 1867, on a farm near Hooper, Mr. Luther spent all of his life on a farm until 1930, when he retired and moved to Fremont. He attended county schools near Hooper. He was married in Fremont March 2, 1894 to Miss Hannah Nelson of Swaburg. The couple then moved to a farm nine miles northeast of Hooper. Mr. and Mrs. Luther observed their golden wedding anniversary four years ago. Funeral service were held Tuesday at Sinai Lutheran church in Fremont, with the pastor, Rev. Theodore Johnson, and Rev. C. O. Gulleen of Genoa officiating. Burial was in Swaburg cemetery, where Rev. Drel Bernardson of Swaburg conducted graveside services. Mr. Luther, who lived at 1729 North Park Avenue, is survived by his widow; three sons, Elmer of Columbus; Roy, Davenport, Ia., and Marvin, Fremont; Seven daughters, Mrs. H. H. Tillman and Mrs. Charles Schultz, both of Fremont; Mrs. Frank Willey, Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Allen Anderson and Mrs. Fred Wulf; Hooper; Mrs. Fred Schmithenkrop, Greeley, Colo.; and Mrs. Glenn Saalfeld, Sacramento, Calif. one sister, Carrie Luther, Colfax, Ia., one half-sister, 17 grand children and nine great grandchildren. One son, Norman, preceded him in death.
