Interment was in the Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery with military rites conducted by members of Francis Gallagher American Legion Post #294. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice Grinnell. Nevenhoven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Carl Edwin Fraker, son of Joseph and Dora Showalter Fraker, was born August 15, 1917, near Brooklyn, Iowa. Carl received his education in a rural school and served with the US Army from 1942 to 1945. On May 19, 1951, he was married to Eunice Yvonne Ford in the Presbyterian Parsonage in Brooklyn. He farmed all of his life and they moved into Brooklyn in March of 1994. Carl was a member of the Church of the Brethren and Francis Gallagher American Legion Post #294 of Brooklyn. He was a past member of the Farm Bureau. Carl played softball and bowled for many years. He loved to play cards and was a avid sports fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Cardinals. Mr. Fraker was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Kenneth and Bernard; and one granddaughter, Chasity Deedrick. Surviving are his wife Eunice; two sons, Randy and his wife, Jeannie, of Ft. Madison, Iowa, and Dennis of Brooklyn; three daughters, Cheryl Froelich and her husband, Todd, of Brooklyn, Wisconsin, Jane Fraker of Brooklyn, and Carol Deedrick and her husband, Charlie, of Grinnell; one brother, Gerald Fraker of Ladora; and five grandchildren.
