H. V Felt of Redfield. assisted by the local pastor, Rev. M. B. Wilson. The church was filled to overflowing with sorrowing friends and relatives. Floral offerings were profuse and beautiful. The local Masonic Lodge of which he was a member, attended the service in a body forming an escort of honor and at the grave gave the Masonic burial service. The pall bearers were B. E. Combs, Ivan Salmons, L. M. Kline, O. C. Cole, Charles Shaw, and James Durbin, neighbors and long time friends of the deceased. A quartet composed of Mrs. Clara Thorson, Mrs. Avis Taylor, A. T. Smith and R. R. Honeyman with Mrs. Mabel Honeyman as accompanist, sang. The following obituary was given: Charles David Lang was born December 1, 1862 in Mills County, Iowa and passed away southwest of Emerson on February 11, 1931, at the age of 68 years, 2 months, 7 days. Practically all his life was spent in Mills county except three years spent on the western coast and two years which were spent farming near Logan, Iowa, with his brother, John, and wife. It was here that he met his wife, Nettie Gertrude Brown, and they were united In marriage February 14, 1907. To this union six children were born, one son and daughter dying in infancy, and three daughters, Helen, Pearl, and Alice, and son, George, survive him. After their marriage they came to Mills county and lived on their farm southwest of Emerson which has always been their home, except eight years which were spent In Emerson. He was a supporter and attendant of the Emerson Methodist Church until his hearing interfered with his enjoying the services. He was also a member of A. F. & A. M. Humanity lodge No. 375 of Emerson. He was a loyal husband, a devoted father, a good neighbor, and was one who was ever ready to lend a helping hand where it was needed. Besides his wife and four children he is survived by his mother. Mrs. Catherine Lang, four sisters, Mrs. Mary Swadley of Palmer, Nebraska, Mrs. Alice Knowles of Long Beach, California, Mrs. Barbara Ballain and Pearl Lang of Emerson; 2 brothers, Walter of Wiggins, Mississippi, and Frank of Emerson.
