Description	:	Charles F. Eggert, father of R. H. Eggert, who died last Tuesday at Oakland, was buried at Sylvan Cemetery yesterday following funeral services at the Broyer & Magner Chapel. Rev. M. E. Coen, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, conducted the services. The deceased was 80 years of age. He had been in ill health for six months. Coen, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, conducted the services. The deceased was 80 years of age. He had been in ill health for six months. For several years he conducted a furniture store at Lakeport, moving to Oakland about three years ago. The widow will make her home in Roseville. Charles F. Eggert, a native of Pennsylvania, was born October 14, 1852. While yet a small boy, his parents moved to Nebraska. Here he grew to manhood and at the age of 25 he was married to Marie M. Granquist. To them were born nine children, five of whom are still living. They are: Mrs. Lillian M. Kale of Everson, Washington; Mrs. Eva M. Cannaugh of Omaha, Nebraska; Elmer E. Eggert of Grundy Center, Iowa; Leslie F. Eggert of Chicago, Illinois; and R. H. Eggert of Roseville, California. At the time of his marriage he was engaged in the general merchandise business. They removed to western Kansas in 1887 where they owned and farmed a larger acreage. Mrs. Eggert died in 1897. Mr. Eggert later married Mrs. Johanna King who had a son, Clarence King, and a daughter, Mabel King. They also adopted and raised a granddaughter, Pearl King-Eggert, who has made her home with them since she was two years old. In 1903 they again moved to Everson, Washington, and engaged in the hardware and furniture business. Nine years later they moved to Lakeport, California, and engaged in the furniture business, from which business he retired four years ago and moved to Oakland to pass his declining years. He was at all times a kind and loving husband and father, and as a neighbor the helping hand was never withheld. Throughout his whole life he was active in the affairs of the church and a firm believer in the head of the church. The church of his choice was the Presbyterian. Until recent years, he was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge. Wherever he has resided, he has always been affectionately known as "Dad Eggert" to the old and the young. Nearly three years ago, he suffered a nervous breakdown and has been in poor health ever since. During the last ten weeks, he had been confined to his bed. He passed out of this life Monday morning to enter the joys of the church triumphant.
