He was listed as age 62 born October 1837 in Ohio, his wife Sarah J. age 42 born January 1848 in Ohio, their children listed were; Edward A. age 28 born October 1871, Anna age 21 born October 1878 and Charles W. age 18 born January 1882, all were born in Ohio. In the 1870 census taken June 14, Cyrus was living in Loudon Twp., Carroll Co., Ohio. Cyrus was listed as a farmer age 31 born in Ohio, his wife Sarah J. age 21 born in Ohio, their children listed were; George E. age 2 and Harvey A. age 7 months, both born in Ohio. Also Cyrus' mother Anna was living with him she was listed as age 66 born in Maryland and a Letitia Miller age 16 housekeeper born in Ohio. He was especially gifted in music. Possessed a good voice for singing and when young sometimes held singing schools in country schoolhouses and in private homes. His home was in the Kilgore-Amsterdam, Ohio area. His obituary in the Carroll Chronicle, Carrollton, Ohio, Friday, April 2, 1926. Cyrus Gotschall, farmer, residing two miles east of Harlem Springs, died Sunday after two days illness with influenza. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Sigler, were held at 10 a.m. Burial at Kilgore. Mr. Gotschall was born in Lee Township 88 years ago. In 1867 he was married to Sarah Yeager, who died in February 1921. He is survived by two sons, Ed at Kilgore and Charles at home; a daughter, Mrs. Anna Karns at North Canton; 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Three daughters are deceased. He was a member of M. E. Church. Note --- the original obituary state he was married in 1876. It should read 1867.
