Died, just as an earthy Sabbath was dawning June 17, 1906, at Harlem Springs, after a lingering illness, David Trushel, aged almost 70 years. He was a member of the Brethren church, a respected citizen, kind husband, a loving father. He enlisted in the Civil War in 1864 and served until the close. He was a member of the G. A. R. post at Harlem Springs and his comrades gave him the burial honors that belong to heroes and crowned his memory with the victor's crown. He expressed his regret that he could not meet with his comrades and attend the Memorial Services that were held a few weeks ago. He loved the flag and as he lay sleeping beneath the starry folds of the stars and stripes that draped his casket, we honor him as a soldier, which is more than friend, citizen or neighbor. His memory can never die. He will live in the archives of the nation, and in the hearts of the dear ones in the lonely home, his comrades and many friends.
