Married to Albert Augutus Hoyle on April 24, 1901 Mother to William, Earl, Merle, and Esther Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 4, from the Churdan United Methodist Church for Eliza Ann Hoyle, 92, longtime Churdan resident. The Rev Robert M Parris, minister of the church, officiated. Mrs. Boyd LeGore was soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Clarence Smith. Casket bearers were Cecil, Carl, Terry, Harold, and Lyle Hoyle and Dennis Hostetler. Interment was in Highland Township Cemetery. Eliza Ann Hoyle, daughter of Thomas and Emma (Bellcock) Green was born at Luana, Clayton county, Iowa, Feb 15, 1878 and passed away at Bayard on Dec 1 at the age of 92 years. She was one of a family of seven children. At the age of nine she moved to Greene county for three years, then to Calhoun county near Lohrville, where she received her schooling. Eliza taught country school several years near Lohrville. On April 24, 1901, Eliza was married to Albert Hoyle. They had four children. They moved to a farm near Lohrville, then to a farm near Churdan around 1910. They moved into Churdan in 1928 where she continued to live until ill health kept her from living alone. She resided at the Bayard Nursing Home for several years. Mrs. Hoyle was a member of the United Methodist Church at Churdan, joining in her early youth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert A. in 1934; one son, the Rev Wm Hoyle, who died in 1962; one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren; her parents; two brothers and four sisters. Surviving are her children, Earl A. Hoyle of St Charles, MO., Esther M. (Mrs. Clarence Gotter) of Scranton and Merle A. Hoyle of Churdan. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Information and research provided by Martha Reed at [email protected]
