Mrs. Elizabeth Salmon, aged 86, stricken with paralysis on March 11, died at 6:45 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 1924, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Marsh, 712 North Sixth Street. She had been unconscious since Sunday night. Her three children were at he bedside when death came. Mrs. Salmon, who had gained a wide circle of friends during her ten years residence in New Philadelphia, was born near Kilgore, Carroll County, on May 15, 1833, the daughter of Jacob and Leath Smith. The greater part of her life was spent in the vicinity of Kilgore and Harlem Springs. Fifteen years ago her husband, Isaiah Salmon, died at their home in Scio, the result of wounds received in the battle of Chickamauga in the Civil War. He was a member of the 98th O. V. I. Since childhood Mrs. Salmon had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Surviving children are Rev. S. B. Salmon, pastor of the First Methodist church in Warren; George S. Salmon of Steubenville, and Mrs. Marsh of North Sixth Street. One sister, Mrs. Etha Salmon of Carlyon road, East Cleveland; one brother, Rev. Dr. George B. Smith of Barnesville, and three grandchildren also survive. Burial was made in Kilgore cemetery at 10 a.m. Saturday, with Rev. M. M. Brown of this city officiating.
