Mrs. Kauffman Loses Brother Henry Koester, son of Fredrick and Sophia Koester, was born September 29, 1862 and passed away at his home on the farm south of DuBois July 31, 1934 at the age of 71 years, 10 months and three days. He was confirmed at St. John's Evangelical church at the age of 16 and became a member of that church. Mr. Koester was married to Caroling Bredemeier, September 7th, 1888. To this union, four children were born: Herman, Lillian Russell, deceased; Ida and Elmer. The three children, with his wife, one brother, William and four sisters, Mrs. Minnie Meier, DuBois; Mrs. Sophia Meier, Hume, Mo.; Mrs. Maried Spring, Manhattan and Mrs. Elizabeth Kauffman, Seneca, and one granddaughter, Irene Russell, survive. A large number of other relatives and of friends mourn his loss. Henry had always lived on the farm. He was born and grew to manhood on the farm just north of his place where Fred Koester now lives. When he was married his father fave him the place where he lived till he passed away. Mr. Koester had not been well the past year but his death was a great shock to his friends and relatives. A short funeral service, in charge of Rev. Otto Krueger, will be held at the home at 10 o'clock Friday after which he will be taken to the Friedens Evangelical church, where public service will be held. He will be laid to rest in the churchyard cemetery.
