Description	:	Leo R. Yoder, age 95 years of Archbold passed away Sunday, July 21 at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home. He was born on October 2, 1917 in Johnson County, Iowa son of the late Joe D. and Annie P. (Yoder) Yoder. He was the fourth of seven children. He was preceded in death by three older sisters, Edna (Clarence) Swartzendruber, Magdalene (Alvin) Stoltfus and Ollie (H. Clifford) Page and two younger sisters, Edith (Darrel) Wade and Mabel. Yoder, age 95 years of Archbold passed away Sunday, July 21 at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home. He was born on October 2, 1917 in Johnson County, Iowa son of the late Joe D. and Annie P. (Yoder) Yoder. He was the fourth of seven children. He was preceded in death by three older sisters, Edna (Clarence) Swartzendruber, Magdalene (Alvin) Stoltfus and Ollie (H. Clifford) Page and two younger sisters, Edith (Darrel) Wade and Mabel. A younger brother, Willard of Kalona, IA, survives. Leo married Sylvia (Mishler) on October 8, 1939. She died in July 2007. They had four children, Sheryl (Bob) Miller of Kalona, IA, Eileen (Roland) Myers of Lebanon, PA and Joe D. (Miriam Miller) of Keezletown, Va. A daughter, Arleta (Winston) Mattsson-Boze died in 1968. He had six grandchildren, Troy (Nami) Miller of Nagoya, Japan, Wendy Miller of Lancaster, PA, Samuel Yoder of Seattle, WA, Joshua (Ashley) Yoder, Jonathan (Crystal) Yoder, Philip Yoder all of Keezletown, Va. and three great grandchildren, Hayden and Ryan Miller and Leo Yoder. Leo loved woodworking and was involved in woodworking and building all his life. In Iowa he owned and operated a construction business. After moving to Ohio in 1955 he worked for Archie Fielitz Construction until his retirement in 1979. He helped build over 100 homes in the Archbold area specializing in finishing work. He estimated that, over 25 years, he hung over 1,000 doors. After retirement, Leo helped his son begin a construction business in Keezletown, VA. In addition to his paid construction job, he volunteered thousands of hours with Mennonite Disaster Service and served as the coordinator for Northwest Ohio and lower Michigan. His many volunteer activities took him to Louisiana, Texas, Michigan, California and Hawaii. Leo was a faithful member of the Tedrow Mennonite Church where he served in various ways including as a Sunday School teacher and on the Building Committee. Leo enjoyed interacting with and helping people. He could strike up a conversation with almost anyone and strangers soon became friends. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and looked forward to and cherished the time he spent with them. Interment will be in Pettisville Cemetery.
