Description	:	Levinah Louise Stewart was born in Kentucky on June 1, 1793. Levinah Louise Stewart married John West, son of John West and Eleanor Laws (Edwards) West on January 16, 1817 in Adams County, Ohio (soon to become Brown County, Ohio). The couple settled on what was then the American frontier, in Byrd Township, Brown County, Ohio. John cleared 10 acres of heavily timbered land and built a cabin for the couple in the late winter of 1817 following their marriage. Levinah Louise Stewart married John West, son of John West and Eleanor Laws (Edwards) West on January 16, 1817 in Adams County, Ohio (soon to become Brown County, Ohio). The couple settled on what was then the American frontier, in Byrd Township, Brown County, Ohio. John cleared 10 acres of heavily timbered land and built a cabin for the couple in the late winter of 1817 following their marriage. In one month, John and a hired hand had 10 acres of the heavily limbered land ready to farm. That spring, Levinah and a boy made 200 pounds of maple syrup. John and Levinah reared a family of eight children to adulthood: four sons and four daughters. Their names are Susannah, Eleanor Ellen, James Walter, William Wallace, Joseph Stewart, Abigail, John McVey, and Caroline. John and Levinah gave their children all the educational facilities within their reach and accumulated a property of perhaps $20,000 and never handled a dollar but as the reward of hard toil. Levinah died before her husband on February 2, 1868. She is buried in the Old West Cemetery with her husband, two sons who died in infancy, and her daughter Mary Elizabeth who also died in childhood.
