JACOB HEINTZ Fell From Straw Stack a Distance of About Six Feet and Broke Her Neck Mrs. Magdalene Heintz, ne Mathis, and wife of Jacob Heintz, was born April 22nd, 1848, at Zittersheim, Alsace, France. When 14 years of age she was confirmed in the Ev. Lutheran church and remained a constant member of the same. April 9th, 1870 she was united in marriage with Jacob Heintz. This happy union was blessed with 9 children, 6 sons and 3 daughters, of whom, however , 3 sons in childhood preceded their mother to eternity. In 1871 Mr. and Mrs. Heintz came to the United States and settled first at Montra, Shelby Co., O, but after a stay there of 7 years they moved on a farm in Clay Twp., Auglaize Co., where the deceased was visited by a sudden death last Saturday, at the age of 58 years, 2 months, and 15 days. She ever possessed good health, of which precious gift she made the proper use by faithfully discharging the duties of a Christian wife and mother. She was a true spouse to her husband, a loving mother to her children, an obliging neighbor and a devoted Christian, finding great delight in the house and word of God. Her end was to come suddenly and unexpectedly last Saturday evening, July 7th, 1906, supposedly while suffering from an attack of dizziness to which she was subject for the past few years, she fell off of a straw stack about 6 feet high and broke her neck. When her husband found her a few minutes later, her soul had left it's earthly habitation and returned to God who gave it. Her funeral took place on Tuesday and was largely attended by mourning relatives and sympathizing friends. After the usual religious services at the house of mourning and at the Ev. Luth. St. Mark's church conducted by her pastor, Rev. L. F. Littler, her body was laid to rest in the cemetery adjoining the church. Her husband, three sons, three daughters, twelve grandchildren, two brothers, three sisters and a host of relatives and friends mourn her sudden departure.
