Description	:	"Mildred Morris Anderson Nelson passed away at home in Camino, Calif., on Sept. 30, 2015. She was 91. She was one of six children born to Milton D. Morris and Leah L. Morris of Pacific Ranger Station. She attended schools in Fresh Pond and Placerville, Calif., graduating from El Dorado High School in 1940 and from Sacramento Junior College in 1942. Mildred worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad until joining the Marine Corps Women’s Reserve and serving in San Diego during World War II. She was 91. She was one of six children born to Milton D. Morris and Leah L. Morris of Pacific Ranger Station. She attended schools in Fresh Pond and Placerville, Calif., graduating from El Dorado High School in 1940 and from Sacramento Junior College in 1942. Mildred worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad until joining the Marine Corps Women’s Reserve and serving in San Diego during World War II. At the end of the war, upon discharge from the Marine Corps, she moved to San Francisco, where she met and married William B. Anderson, with whom she had two daughters. After William’s death in 1964, she worked nine years for Georgia-Pacific Corp. in South San Francisco. At Georgia-Pacific, she met Dr. Richard S. Nelson, Professor of Marketing at UCSF. They married in 1972 and spent wonderful times traveling around America and also to England, Scotland, Greece, Egypt and Kenya to see the African wildlife. They retired and moved to Camino in 1999. He kept her laughing for 33 years. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Nelson; her brothers, Rowland M. Morris, Roy Stanley Morris, Glen A. Morris and Lloyd G. Morris; and her sister, Dorothy Morris Cann. She is survived by her daughters, Leah Anderson-Kinney of Fremont, Calif., and Candace Anderson of Camino; her stepdaughter, DeLois (Steve) Warlick of Shawnee, Kansas; stepson, Christopher Nelson of Austin, Texas; four step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. At her request, there will be only a small graveside service at Georgetown Pioneer Cemetery. In memory of Mildred, always an animal activist, donations may be made to Front Line Equine Rescue; Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue; or Long Hopes Donkey Rescue.
