Funeral services were held at 2:30 P.M. at the Presbyterian Church in Cherokee, Iowa, with Rev. R.C. Mitchell in charge. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery. On May 17, 1881, he was united in marriage to Mary Bowen. To this union 13 children were born. Montie and Mary celebrated their 50th. Wedding Anniversery May 17, 1931. The children are: Otis (deceased), John, Mrs. James (Emma) Ware, Mrs. Walter (Elizabeth) Whitney, Robert, Charlie, Mrs. Forrest ( Catherine) Ware, Mrs. Leland (Margaretta) Loucks, Mrs. Bert ( Letha ) Everett, Samuel, Arthur, Montiford, and Mrs. Ruby Heck; 16 Grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
